Sunday morning is underway, checking weekend lawbreaking. So far we have
                                         this from Blytheville.
That's from before the weekend. I guess it being a holiday weekend they count the holiday. Wonder if there's more to come. Back
in the day when the Air Force base was there it wasn't that bad but I still avoided it. The population continues to decline and usually when
that happens the ones leaving are the ones you wouldn't mind staying and the ones that stay are the ones you could do without. When the base
closed FedEx talked about buying it and making it their hub, which seemed like a good idea. Get out of Memphis and have plenty of room to
expand and complete ownership so avoid the local politics and regulations. It would have been good for Blytheville, not so good for Memphis
but I wonder sometimes if the folks at Fedex wish they had. Memphis continues to deteriorate and there seems to be no prospect of reversal.

Not much big news. Won't comment on the guy visiting the
                                         terrorist homeland, that's international affairs.
                                         NEA Report had
                                         some more
of what looks like imported crime. If they catch the two that escaped we can see where they're from. The getaway venicle wasn't a Dodge Charger or
any other Chrysler product but we don't know if it was stolen. For that matter we don't always know whether or not the Dodge Chargers are stolen.
Last time I was in Pine Bluff I hope was the last, in fact I'm real sure I'll never set foot in that place again. And that was in 1980-something.

crop duster crash, pilot survived. Other
                                         bits of

The telly folks and Jonesbororightnow have the sheriff talking on the jail he wants. Why does that dude remind me of Ned Beatty in
                                         White Lightning? Is that the
stereotypical southern sheriff thing? Sorry, won't do it again. Today. Maybe. Not making promises. Great movie by the way, if you haven't seen it. Burt Reynolds
and Ned Beatty in one of several joint appearances. If people (like me) with Asperger's I'd do a Jeopardy category on Burt Reynolds. One of the questions would be "two movies
in which Ned Beatty chases Burt Reynolds in a car and ends up in a body of water". Another would be "Two Burt Reynolds movie titles beginning with "The Man Who
Loved..." Stroker Ace was awful and not just because of Loni Anderson but Talledaga Nights was so bad it wasn't even funny. Neither was Stroker but there we are. Good
movies a bout NASCAR? A couple back in the day but that's not what I came to talk about. White Ligntning could have been about a certain county in NEA, not saying which
                                         one.

Back to the sheriff and the jail. The
                                         telly bit
just had a short video that... nevermind,
                                         Jonesbororightnow
had a whole bunch of pics. Actually it doesn't look half
bad but it seems the problem is it's not big enough to hold all the criminals. Now I favor the Sheriff Arpaio system, very cost-efficient and the folks that get in there
are less inclined after they get out to not do things that would get them put back in. Obviously you can't go to a barbed wire camp out in the boonies but if you gotta
build a new one it should be done as cost-efficiently as possible while getting the job done. But if you can get the sheeple to vote the extra burden you don't have to.
No one should vote for that tax or any tax unless a detailed accounting of how the money is spent is provided. Not just a general so much for this and so much for that
but lay out the spreadsheets with all the numbers. And names of recipients of the money. Now most Joe and Jill Sixpacks aren't going to read it but a few of us will.
And there's the problem, or should be. But the local 'news' outlets - if any do bother to read and report - it's a one-day story.

His solution: putting a half-cent sales tax on the November ballot. It would sunset after 6 to 8 years. And in that time, the county says they should be able to generate
roughly $95 million dollars to fund the jail and other public safety projects (like the Sheriff's Office). (Jonesbororightnow.com)

Does anyone seriously believe the voters won't be asked for another half-cent for something else in the next six years. Or even the next one years. It says something
that the bureaucrats are now asking for it a half-cent at a time. And has a tax been sunsetted recently? I suppose there may have been but all ever see is these taxes
being put up for renewal every time. To their credit the sheeple of some counties have refused some lately. Is there a point between 10% and 20% where it stops? One
                                         would think so but...

I wonder if any of the other outlets will have this. I believe an occasional update on city and county lawsuits is a good thing, seeing as how there are
so many. Kudos to NEA Report for keeping some pinned subjects. I would like to see the one with the woman who was made into a near vegetable by a JPD
officer. Three of those involve that Jonesboro cop. Anyone know if he's still on the streets? I'll feel safer when I'm on Jonestown
streets if people like him aren't.

If someone did have the audacity to challenge the mayor he would simple refuse to debate, seeing as how he doesn't have to. Like the man said, if you aren't in the club. The people
I know who have the money prefer to keep their heads down. I agree that it would be interesting to see a guy with the money and no fear take them on, especially the
reaction of the local news folks.

Went to Jonestown early this morning and didn't become a crime victim. Other than assorted crimes not much going on. The abortionist amendment that supposedly
had enough signatures to get on the ballot... well, it seems
                                         there were some irregularities.
They won't give up so this could be interesting. One would hope the voters of Arkansas who usually get it right would reject it if it was on there but it's better not being there.
In general just vote against all of them to be safe. Seeya in a bit.

I don't know how much of Blytheville's problem comes from Memphis - I know a LOT
of crime in Jonesboro and Paragould is drifting debris from there and some of the
smaller towns have caught denizens of Memphis. Maybe a really big earthquake
could take down the bridges. ©

Memphis is so far gone I don't see it being saved unless the state can do something.
Someone told Ben Ferguson the other day the state should revoke its charter, appoint
a caretaker administration, something like that. I don't know how it would work in
Tennessee and he didn't either but said he would look into it.
When I want your opinion, I'll beat it out of you.

The state take over city government? I'm all for it but can you imagine the riots and
sabotage by those losing their power? They'd have to have the National Guard and
deputize a couple thousand State Police.

Over here in Lawrence County we've got them. Mississippi County with I-55 running
through it? The problem is these days they're more mobile. They think nothing of
stealing cars going all over the place looking for victims.

I've noticed that trend here in NEA. Distance doesn't matter like it once did -
transportation easy to come by. Sometimes they just steal a car. Pine Bluff is a long
way from Jonesboro, but criminals can be pretty mobile. And as we see in a lot of
cases where there are multiple perps they do come from different places.

Yeah, mobility makes the problem worse but the inefficacy of law enforcement is
inexcusable. Jonesboro and Paragould are both experiencing an influx of derelicts
and the decay and crime that accompanies them.

Paragould was encouraging people from Memphis to get HUD housing there years

What difference, at this point, does it make?
